The San Javier Festival hosts tomorrow, Tuesday, August 22, the first of the only two performances of “Carmina Burana” that will be offered in Spain by the prestigious Hungarian dance company, “Szeged Contemporary Dance Company”. The author of the choreography and co-founder of the company, Tamás Juronics and two of the dancers, highlighted today in San Javier the dramatic force of the show that its choreographer defined as “dance of emotion”.

The strength of Carl Orff’s music serves as a background to represent a survival story of a community of humanoids that will fight to survive through a series of rituals, explained the director of the Festival, David Martínez during the presentation of the show that also included the participation of the company’s representative in Spain, Pilar García de Izaguirre, from Ysarca Arts Promotions and the Deputy Mayor, Héctor Verdú. The director of the Festival, David Martínez highlighted the Festival’s commitment to contemporary dance, since recent years, and underlined the European leadership of the “Szeged Contemporary Dance Company”, for whose show more than 1,000 seats have already been sold.

The choreographer Tamás Juronics, who, although far from the stage, will take the stage in San Javier to represent death, highlighted the “fundamental” music of Carlo Orff, when talking about the show, but also the story it tells, in which a girl stands out. In the choreography there is darkness and sadness but there is also love and a lot of light, advances Tamás Juronics, who was hopeful that the audience will be as moved as the dancers themselves during the show.

The Szeged Contemporary Dance Company was founded in 1987 and has been traveling the world for over 25 years. Currently, it is made up of 15 dancers, half of whom are Hungarian and the rest are from other countries. His repertoire is very varied and, in addition to Tamás Juronics, he has had the collaboration of some of the most outstanding international choreographers. The company’s style is characterized by the combination of contemporary acrobatic movements, theatrical dance elements and visual effects executed at the highest technical and artistic level.
