Those were the keys that the actress Carmen Climent allowed two years ago to enter the most iconic family on Spanish television, the Alcántara, a role (that of María, the little daughter of Merche and Antonio) that has led to the take-off of ” a long-distance race “.
This is how he is frequently reminded by fellow veterans such as Imanol Arias or Ana Duato, he tells Efe in an interview. “I have been told many times that it is not in a hurry, that this is a long-distance race, that this is non-stop throughout life, that there are peaks upwards, that there will be good and bad moments and that what you have to do is hold on” .
In these times of roles granted by the number of followers in social networks and ephemeral fame, Climent (Bilbao, 1996) trusts in being able to follow their advice. “Young people sometimes do not see it but when you talk to someone who has been around for so long you realize that sometimes the rush is not good either, that it is something for life”, he points out.
The Alcántara’s youngest daughter, the only one born in the middle of the series, has been played by five different actresses and now lives with Climent her college days with more and more prominence in the plots.
In this season 21, which is about to end (the series will turn two decades next September), it leaves its mark on its passion for medicine, its frustrated loves and its small tragedies, as when the already mythical neighborhood of San Genaro woke up full of nude photographs of her taken by an old boyfriend.
“María has given me a lot, that many more people see me and from there other projects have arisen () but above all for me the most important thing is learning, that I am with actors who have been there all their lives, of a very high quality And being able to be by his side I have noticed a huge difference in myself, “the young woman tells Efe, who came to the series after a” casting “like so many others she has done in her career.
Born in Bilbao, to a family of Valencian origin, Climent has been training in different arts all her life. She started with classical dance and even went to study high school remotely so she could spend more time rehearsing, until she realized that it was not what she wanted to do.
“I said that I was leaving it and that I was going to study a career, but my father (who is a musician by profession), unlike all parents, told me:” If you don’t like the classic, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t other things , train yourself in what you really like. And while I was doing high school I trained in interpretation and in musical and lyrical singing, “he explains.
There, to training, is where Climent has bet everything. “It is true that I have not had a normal adolescence of going out with my friends because I was very focused on studying. I have had a life of holding on a lot when training and I did not go out on weekends because I wanted to stay stretching more or watching more movies, or studying a casting better, “he says.
Years of “effort and work”, especially in the world of theater. In Madrid he joined a musical theater company and was touring all of Spain for a year and a half. “We were performing in both small and large theaters and it was a huge learning curve,” explains the actress.
At the same time he did many “castings”, even the yes of “Tell me how it happened”, his first role in the audiovisual world. Being part of one of the most iconic series on Spanish television is “an honor” and it is something that has already marked him “forever”, says the actress.
Other roles have come from the hand of “Cuéntame …”, such as Clara in the web series “Terror.app” by Boomerang tv for Atresmedia, Carmen in the short “Regina” or Jone in the series ” Show off “, directed by David Pérez Sañudo and produced by K2000 for ETB.
And is that despite the iconic of the series that opened the doors of television, Climent does not want or think that they only recognize it for that. “He is a very marked character, but it is true that I have been lucky enough to be able to do other things and I am still at it, I am being seen in other planes”, concludes the actress.
