The Geissens now do the spring cleaning themselves. It just takes longer, says Robert Geiss.

The corona virus does not stop at the rich and beautiful. Now the Geissens notice this in their holiday home in St. Tropez in southern France. Where normally high society sips champagne on deckchairs, you have landed on the facts. «Here is nothing as it was. We too have to stand in line at the supermarket and keep our distance, hairdressers, restaurants and other shops have to, »Carmen Geiss (54) tells BLICK in an interview.

The German TV couple only returned to Europe a few weeks ago. In Miami, new episodes of the upcoming autumn season of “The Geissens – a terribly glamorous family” were shot. «We flew back to Monaco via New York and Milan. Because of the landing in Milan, our two daughters had to go into isolation on the advice of the school, »says Robert Geiss (56). First they drove to their house in the mountains in Valberg, now they are in a holiday home in St. Tropez, not far from their own hotel. None of the family of four developed symptoms, the two daughters Shania Tyra (15) and Davina Shakira (16) are taught online like their classmates.

Enough toilet paper and the wine cellar is full
Because of the legal provisions in France, the Geissens also have to hold back. Individual trips outside are limited to one hour, even driving a car is no longer allowed. «Because Robert had a calf tear, we can go shopping together. Nevertheless, we have to go into the store separately. »

The Geissens have already made provisions. The family of four has a considerable supply of food and supplies in their hotel, which is currently also vacant. “We could probably go through the toilet paper for two years, and the wine cellar is full,” says Robert. “Champagne shortage is not an issue for us,” Carmen adds with a laugh. Neither do they fear existential existence. Robert: “As long as the people who can save money through the curfew spend it again after the relaxation, the damage to the economy should be limited.”

No time to relax
The two cannot put their feet up in these times. The Geissens employees are still there, but the two of them also lend a hand. «I’m the cleaning lady now! Although many do not think so, I can do it quite well, »says Carmen Geiss. Her husband Robert adds: “And if she doesn’t have to do it forever, she’s also fun.” The spring cleaning, which usually takes a week, now goes four weeks.

The blonde faces a problem: she usually goes to the hairdresser at least twice a week. «It’s a hobby of mine. I can relax wonderfully at the hairdresser, and I also support this type of profession with my many visits. » Now Carmen has to lend a hand. «And I can do that too. It takes a little longer, but I can. Even making gel nails is not a problem. »

Hope for warm temperatures
The Geissens have a bright spot in this turbulent time. “The weather will be better in the near future,” says Robert. “Maybe the curve flattens out a bit because of the higher temperatures. What is certain is that we will spend a lot more time in our garden and by the pool. » (imh)
