Carmelo Anthony to be Inducted into the New York City Basketball Hall of Fame

Carmelo Anthony will be inducted into the Hall of Fame… in New York. While waiting to join that of Springfield, more prestigious, the former Knicks player will in fact be the main headliner of the 2024 promotion, as announced by New York Post. A fair reward for the Brooklyn native, who notably spent seven seasons at the New York Knicks, and has retired since last May.

As a reminder, in 19 seasons in the NBA, Carmelo Anthony rose to the rank of 9th best scorer in the league (28,289 points). He has 10 All-Star selections, six All-NBA selections (two on the Second Team, 4 on the Third Team) and one title as the league’s top scorer (2013). Although he was never crowned in the NBA, he still won an NCAA title (the American university league) and three Olympic titles with Team USA. Enough to allow him, undoubtedly, to soon join the “real” Hall of Fame.

During his induction, “Melo” will not be alone. Carmelo Anthony will be accompanied by streetball legend Joe Hammond, former WNBA player Tina Charles and Nuggets coach Mike Malone, a native of Queens, who will also be recognized with a special prize. The ceremony is expected to take place next summer at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.
