Carmaux. The virus is no longer circulating at the nursing home

Covid 19 at the nursing home: the virus is no longer circulating at the nursing home

The EHPAD at Bosc de Carmaux has just had a complicated and trying start to the year for all of its residents and their families, but also for its staff.

The EHPAD was affected by the COVID 19 pandemic and saw 114 positive residents out of its 118 in less than 15 days. This sad toll finally shows 20 deaths attributed to COVID-19 and will mark the staff and residents present for a long time. The city of Carmaux strongly associates itself with the sorrow of those who have lost a loved one and thanks all the staff of the city and outside, volunteer or volunteer, for having made sure that the well-being of the residents can, above all, to be maintained.

As a reminder, the COVID-19 blue plan was activated in March 2020 and as such, massive screenings were carried out regularly, the last two of which before the crisis (December 22 and January 6) had returned negative in full.

During a hospitalization, on January 11, a resident tested positive for COVID-19, and a massive screening was immediately organized, to ensure the safety of all. Unfortunately, the finding was final, the first results of the tests carried out on January 14 show 86 residents and 24 positive agents. The final results, following a second series of tests, will reveal the positivity of 114 residents and 50 agents, all specialties combined.

To date, no one can say what is the origin of this crisis and the time is not to look for the reasons for the tragedy but to continue to manage the crisis, to support families and to meditate.

As of February 16, 20 deaths can be attributed to COVID-19. The Carmaus victims of this pandemic were mostly frail or very old people. Since Thursday, February 4, the day of the PCR testing campaign, the virus is no longer circulating at the EHPAD. These results were confirmed Thursday February 11 by a new campaign of PCR tests and to date most of the residents are better, although some still have sequelae.

From March 1, weekly antigen tests were set up.
