Carmaux. Polyclinic: the local hospital label

The rehabilitation program of the Filieris Sainte-Barbe polyclinic (started in 2015) is largely over. The inauguration of 14 September allowed to discover the new face of the hospital, now called the Local Hospital.

Better to adapt to the population of the North Tarn. A colossal work for a health of the future, in a context where, despite the transformations, the shadow of the old mining basin still hovers when “the miners had their hospital to treat”, recalled Gilles de Lacaussade. It was necessary to adapt to last, with the culmination and realization in 2022 of a major medical work “for a technical doctor”, carried out under the ASL contract of Carmausin-Ségala, in collaboration with the Regional Players Department and the team of the Filieris Sud prevention center. Many “evolutions that would not have been without motivated, inspired and stimulating teams”, underlined Dominique Diago, president of Filieris Sud. Work carried out in a difficult context, due to the pandemic where everything took place frontally, “thank you all for this,” said Jean-Marie Garcia, regional director of Filieris Sud.

As part of the Ségur de la santé

5.5 million euros were invested to provide a workspace and 1,500 square meters of care, authorization of day hospital beds (20), creation of a technical platform for physiotherapy and adapted physical activity, renewed medical team 4 general practitioners and geriatricians.

The establishment is labeled Local Hospital: this label, which is part of the Ségur de la santé, falls within the ARS, for an essential establishment in this territory. A legitimate investment, exults the director general of CANSSM, manager of the Filieris group, Gilles de Lacaussade, for whom “this new impetus and the trust of institutional and local partners testify to the importance of the Sainte-Barbe Polyclinic in the sector.”

A polyclinic is a symbol of the desire to project oneself into the future, according to the mayor Jean-Louis Bousquet; these are “essential achievements for our territories”, confides the representative of the Region.

Following the interventions, the premises were visited before a snack in the square of the Policlinico. Many personalities greeted this event with their presence, including Sylviane Blanc, director of the Sainte-Barbe polyclinic; the entire new medical team, health workers, elected officials of the territory, departmental consultants, representatives of the medical world, the regional health agency and the president of the community of municipalities of Carmausin-Ségala Didier Somen.
