“Carl’s Kino” in Laupheim is once again showing a film in the Laemmle Kino in Großlaupheim Castle during the holiday month of August. “Beloved Cook” is about the art of cooking – and about love.
The historical drama by director Tran Anh Hung is set in the 19th century and takes you into the art of French cuisine. It focuses on the gifted cook Eugénie (Juliette Binoche), who has been working for the gourmet Dodin Bouffant (Benoît Magimel) for 20 years. Over the years, their time together in the kitchen has developed into much more than just a love of food. But Eugénie does not want to give up her freedom and has no intention of marrying Dodin. So he decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.
The film won the Best Director award at Cannes and was selected as the French candidate for the 2024 Oscar in the Best International Film category.
