Carlos Santana collapsed at a concert in the US

Mexican-American rock singer and guitarist Carlos Santana collapsed on stage during a concert Tuesday night near Detroit. The 74-year-old musician’s management said on Facebook today that the extreme heat and lack of fluids contributed to his illness.

The guitar legend was taken to the emergency room of a nearby hospital for observation. He’s fine now, but the concert planned for today in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania had to be postponed. Santana is currently on the Miraculous Supernatural tour.

Santana collapsed during a concert at the Pine Knob Music Theater in Clarkston. Footage of him being treated on stage appeared on social media. A few hours later, the guitarist thanked his fans for their prayers. Both he and his wife, Cindy, are said to be fine. “I forgot to eat and drink water, so I was dehydrated and passed out,” the musician wrote.

Carlos Santana was born in 1947 in Mexico and became a star after performing with his band at the legendary Woodstock festival in 1969. The multiple Grammy award winner is considered the inventor of Latin rock. Among his greatest classic hits are Black Magic Woman, Samba Pa Ti or Oye Como Va. Santana released their last album Blessings And Miracles last year.
