Carlos Sainz emphasizes that he Ferrari wasn’t pushed to his limits when he crashed out of qualifying for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
Ferrari appeared to be heading for a one-two punch for the sprint race’s starting grid until a spin from Sainz threw a spanner in the works for the Italian stable. Sainz was pushing for a lap before the rain started to fall in the second session when he lost the rear end on Rivazza, hit the guardrails and caused damage to the left side of his F1-75.

‘Wasn’t really on the limit’
Sainz is still in the dark about the cause: “It’s hard for me to tell you that, because to be honest I made a mistake that I didn’t expect at all. It was a lap where I didn’t even push that hard.” He just wanted to set a time before it started to rain. “It was a good lap, just to set a time, without being really close to the limit, but unfortunately I lost the car,” the Ferrari driver continues.
‘No warning’
Sainz was surprised that he didn’t get a warning from his car: “For some reason I had no warning that I was going to lose him and he just went.” The Spaniard therefore has some question marks: “Maybe it started to rain or maybe the tires were too hot after two push laps in a row. I have to understand because I don’t think it was a big mistake by doing so. push.”
