Morzine (dpa) – The Spaniard won after 151.8 kilometers and 4100 meters in altitude in Morzine. Tadej Pogacar secured second place ahead of Jonas Vingegaard. As a result of falls, seven drivers had to give up the race.

Defending champion Vingegaard is now ten seconds clear of Pogacar in the standings. The Dane secured more bonus seconds than Pogacar on the Col de Joux Plane, the Slovenian fought back at the finish. Third is now Rodriguez, a second ahead of Bora captain Jai Hindley.
After only a good five kilometers, a mass fall occurred in a small descent, the first of this year’s tour. Race director Christian Prudhomme stopped the race, which was continued after a good half hour. South African Louis Meintjes and Spaniard Antonio Pedrero gave up immediately, Colombian champion Esteban Chaves and Dutchman Ramon Sinkeldam got off their bikes as a result. Frenchman Romain Bardet and Briton James Shaw had to leave the tour after another fall. Later the Portuguese Ruben Guerreiro followed. Before the start of the stage there were eleven tasks.
On Sunday we go near Mont Blanc. In Saint-Gervais, after 179 kilometers, the riders can expect the fourth and last mountain finish of the tour. The final ascent is not particularly long at seven kilometers, but it is quite demanding in the second part.
