Carlos Rodón Nears Return: Yankees Pitcher Takes Steps in Recovery from Injury

New York Yankees pitcher Carlos Rodón is getting closer to returning to action and this Saturday he took another step in his recovery from a left hamstring injury during the second game of the series against the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot Park in Florida.

Before the game against the Marlins, Rodón appeared in the bullpen at LoanDepot Park to work two dummy inputs to continue with the recommendations of the Yankees medical staff.

After releasing the arm, the lefty went to the Yankees facilities in Tampa, Florida, where they regularly do their Spring Training season, to continue with a new phase of his recovery.

Rodón is now expected to participate in a simulated game in the coming days where he will face rivals in batting practicehoping that it will be the last stage for his long-awaited return, possibly on August 22 when he can leave the disabled list.

Rodón was injured on August 7 when he worked just 2.2 innings of work against the Houston Astros due to pain that ended with the hamstring injury, although Yankees manager Aaron Boone had commented that it seemed like a “low-level” strain.

Rodon’s absence has hit hard with a Yankees starting rotation that only features full-time star Gerrit Cole.

In addition to Rodón, Néstor Cortés (out for the rest of the season), Luis Severino (sent to the bullpen due to poor performances), Domingo Germán (out with no return date due to alcohol treatment), are not available to start the Yankees.

The left-hander accumulates a total of six starts in 2023, in which He has posted a 7.33 ERA and a losing 1-4 record.
