Carlos Núñez heads the poster of the V edition of the FolkFest Region of Murcia |C’Mon Murcia

The Galician musician Carlos Núñezthe Spanish folk artist with the greatest international projection, heads the poster of V FolkFest Region of Murciafolk and popular music festival of the Region.

On the occasion of the celebration of five years since its creation, the event expands the number of days and the settings in which it is celebrated with the collaboration of the municipalities of Caravaca de la Cruz and Murcia.

This editionn will feature seven concerts, workshops, conferences and screenings in order to promote the scene and folk music in the cultural programming of the Region of Murcia.

With this objective there will be several headquarters, in addition to the Víctor Villegas Regional Auditorium which hosted the first four editions of the event. Thus, the festival will have a preview in the Festivals of the Barranda Gangs with the concert The calves presenting ‘Lame pigeon’on January 24 at the Pepe Salcedo Cultural Center.

After this preview, which acts as both an ‘aperitif’ of the FolkFest and the traditional Fiestas de las Cuadrillas, on Thursday, February 13, it will take place at the Teatro Circo de Murcia the concert of Fetén Feténthe Castilian duo formed by Jorge Arribas and Diego Galaz and who are a reference on the national scene.

The next day, Friday the 14th, it will be the turn of two other key bands in the current Spanish folk scene: The Cubero Brothers and The Morisca Band. Both the Catalans and the Andalusians perform at the Víctor Villegas Regional Auditorium at 8:30 p.m.

The greatest activity is concentrated on Saturday and Sunday, February 15 and 16. Saturday starts with the talk-colloquio ‘Strategies and sources for research in traditional music: state of the art in the Region of Murcia’and then move on to the screening of the documentary ‘FOLK! A look at traditional music’both events at the Víctor Villegas Regional Auditorium and free until capacity is reached.

In the afternoon, also in the Auditorium and free of charge, it will be the turn of the recording of the program ‘Taratana’ from Radio 3 with the performance of Túa. The day concludes with the concert of Carlos Nunez presenting their album ‘Celtic Sea’, at 8:00 p.m.

Sunday programming moves to Párraga Center and the old Artillery Park of Murcia and is focused on the family audience. The workshop will take place at 10:00 a.m. ‘Come and sing a jot’ with Carme María Martínez Salazar, to move on to the parade of El Tío de la Pita and Cabezudos de Cehegín. At 12:15 p.m. there will be the concert of The Puddlegirl to end the session DJ Castora Herz.
