The non-profit organization, “Bridges of Love”, which is in favor of the Castro regime and protests against the embargo that the United States maintains on the Cuban government, was recently dissolved in Washington DC
According to an investigation carried out by the independent media Cuban Newspaperthe Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), led by Cuban government supporter Carlos Lazo, became inactive after presenting problems with its delinquent annual report.
The entity had been notified on multiple occasions by the Division of Corporations and Charitable Organizations that, as of November 30, 2023, it had not presented its annual report and that, for this reason, Puentes de Amor was no longer active. .
“As a result, the entity mentioned above is no longer in active status. Failure to submit the necessary report before 03/31/2024 will result in administrative dissolution or termination of your registration,” reads the document shared by the aforementioned independent media.
This same document notified Lazo that he had to present the required information by March 31, if he wanted to meet the requirements to reactivate the entity, something he did not do.
After ignoring the second opportunity, the North American authorities informed Lazo that Puñetes de Amor had been administratively dissolved as of April 3, 2024.
“This action was taken because the entity did not present the required report within the time established by law,” adds the report shared by Periódico Cubano.
Who is Carlos Lazo?
Carlos Lazo’s career presents several inconsistencies, because despite the support shown by the NGO in favor of the Island and communism, he and his family have done everything possible to flee from it, with his mother emigrating to the United States and his brother towards Peru.
Lazo himself, when he was young, would have tried to flee the country irregularly through an illegal exit from Playa Baracoa, in Bauta, however, he was detained two days later near Jaimanitas by Cuban border guards and sentenced to a year in prison.
In 1991, Lazo managed to emigrate to the United States in a second illegal attempt, which allowed him to stay in Miami.
After some time and several jobs in Florida, the Cuban moved to Seattle, where he enlisted in the National Guard, serving as a sergeant in the Iraq War.
At 40 years old, Lazo decided to continue his studies to become a professor at a high school in Seattle, Washington. He began to once again support the Castro regime from which he had tried to escape with such fervor in previous years.
The man ended up founding Bridges of Love and making several frequent trips to the Greater Antilles, this under the pretext of sending humanitarian aid to the Island.
Since then, he has dedicated himself to activism in favor of the regime, demanding the end of the economic embargo imposed by the US on Cuba.
