Atlético-MG is already triggering a plan B in case it fails to advance in negotiations with Jorge Jesus. And Galo looks to another Portuguese to command the team from Alvinegro: Carlos Carvalhal, who is in Braga, a team in the Portuguese first division.
The initial information was broadcast by Rádio Itatiaia and confirmed by “Lance!”. The Alvinegra board is having conversations with the two technicians, seeking a quick understanding.
Since he was fired by Benfica, Jorge Jesus has been treated as a priority in the Atlético-MG. Galo, however, does not want to repeat the experience he had with Jorge Sampaoli, who coached the club in 2020, and had a series of frictions with the board of directors of the club from Minas Gerais.
second try with Jesus
It is not the first time that Atlético-MG has tried to hire Jorge Jesus. In 2019, before taking over Flamengo – where he was Brazilian and World Cup champion liberators at the end of the season -, the Portuguese was invited to visit the City of Galo, but the parties did not reach an agreement at the time.
