Carlos Alcaraz Upset by Grigor Dimitrov in Miami Masters, Fails to Reach Semifinals

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, number two in the world rankings, failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the Masters 1,000 in Miami on Thursday, after losing to Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, in two stages.

In the North American hard court event, Alcaraz, who won the tournament in 2022, was unable to confirm his favoritism and was surprised by the current 12th placed player in the ATP hierarchy, who won 6-2 and 6-4, after of one hour and 34 minutes.

“I think he [Dimitrov] He played fantastic tennis, almost perfect, if you can define it as perfect. I couldn’t find solutions, I couldn’t find a way to make him uncomfortable. It was a great match. But I feel a lot of frustration now because he made me feel like I was 13 years old. He didn’t know what to do, he didn’t find his weaknesses, he didn’t know anything”, summarized Alcaraz, after the defeat.

In the semi-finals, Dimitrov will face German Alexander Zverev, number five in the world, while in the other ‘half’ they will face Russian Daniil Medvedev (fourth) and Italian Jannik Sinner (third).
