The ATP ranking: Goffin 42nd
Thanks to his victory at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 on Sunday, the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz has regained the place of world No.1 in the new world ranking published Monday by the ATP. David Goffin loses two places and finds himself 42nd.
Injured at the start of the season, Alcaraz had to leave the lead in the world rankings to Serbian Novak Djokovic, winner of the Australian Open at the end of January. Winner of Indian Wells on Sunday against Russian Daniil Medvedev, the Spaniard took the opportunity to regain the place of world No.1 which he occupied at the end of 2022.
Alcaraz is thus ahead of Djokovic, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the Norwegian Casper Ruud and Medvedev who returns to the top 5. The Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime gains him four places and rises to 6th position ahead of the Russian Andrey Rublev, the Dane Holger Rune, the Pole Hubert Hurkacz and American Taylor Fritz who loses 5 places.
Belgian side, David Goffin, absent for a month because of a knee injury, loses him two places and ranks 42nd. Zizou Bergs jumped four places and found himself 135th. Joris De Loore gained five positions and climbed to 189th place. At the bottom of the ranking, Alexander Blockx, winner of the Australian Open for juniors, climbed to 943rd position, gaining 295 places.
