Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz announced as first players for Laver Cup 2025

Laver Cup Fever Hits San Francisco:Tennis Titans Alcaraz and Fritz Lead Charge in 2025

Get ready, San Francisco! The Bay Area is about to experience an electrifying clash of tennis titans as the Laver Cup, one of the most thrilling events in the sport, lands at the iconic Chase Center from September 19-21, 2025.

Adding fuel to the already sizzling anticipation are the early confirmations of two of tennis’ brightest stars: Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz.

Fresh off their epic showdown at the recent Laver Cup in Berlin, where Alcaraz snatched victory for Team Europe in a nail-biting 12th match, these two superstars are primed for a rematch. Their rivalry, fueled by youthful ambition and sheer talent, is poised to headline the 2025 edition.

At only 21, Alcaraz is a force of nature. The youngest-ever world No.1, he’s already secured a US Open title, two Wimbledon crowns (2023 and 2024), his first Roland Garros title (2024), and etched his name in history as the youngest-ever men’s singles silver medalist at the Olympics. In Berlin, he shattered a Laver Cup record, racking up eight crucial points for Team Europe.

"Carlos is a once-in-a-generation talent,” enthused Yannick Noah, Team Europe Captain. "His speed, energy, and ability to rise to the occasion are unmatched. Having him on Team Europe motivates everyone around him.”

Alcaraz echoed the excitement, “It was amazing being part of Team Europe in Berlin. Having those players I usually compete against, all on the bench supporting me, fighting for the same goal, is unique. It’s incredibly motivating. I loved the Laver Cup energy, the atmosphere, everything. I can’t wait to be back in San Francisco.”

Joining Alcaraz is American star Taylor Fritz, who’s cemented his place among the tennis elite. The 2024 Olympics saw him claim a bronze medal in doubles, followed by his first Grand Slam final appearance at the US Open. He capped off a remarkable year as runner-up at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, achieving a career-high ranking of World No. 4.

Fritz, a stalwart of Team World, boasts a 5-2 Laver Cup record and was instrumental in their historic wins in London (2022) and Vancouver (2023). Andre Agassi, Team World Captain, summed it up perfectly: “Taylor has been a driving force for Team World. He thrives in this unique team format. This season, he’s been on fire, and we’re thrilled to have him leading the charge on home soil in San Francisco."

"I’m pumped to represent Team World again,” declared Fritz. “The atmosphere, camaraderie, the energy of the Laver Cup is like nothing else. I hope the home fans come out in force to support us. We’re determined to bring the Laver Cup back to where it belongs!"

Marking a momentous occasion, the 2025 Laver Cup will be the first top-level men’s professional tennis tournament in the Bay Area in over a decade and the first time the Chase Center, home of the seven-time NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, has hosted a tennis event.

"We can’t wait to bring the Laver Cup to San Francisco," said Laver Cup Chairman and TEAM8 CEO Tony Godsick. "Fans are in for an unforgettable experience as the world’s top players put aside their rivalries to compete in the ultimate team showdown."
