At 73, Quevedo continues to champion this ancient profession of saddler and artist. His satisfaction is that people are satisfied with his products, ties, straps and trigger guards are in high demand.
Carlos Alberto Quevedo was born on October 17, 1949 in Buenos Aires. His parents were Don Mateo Quevedo and Doña Elisa Ricarte, natives of El Rincón, a wild place in the Ayacucho department of the province of San Luis. Three months after their birth, they returned to the lands of San Luis.
Since he was a child, Carlos learned the saddlery trade by watching his father. From the age of 15 he started working on his own. Since they lived relatively far apart, he frequented the races, in order to be able to sell his creations.
At age 34 he settled in San Francisco’s South Band of Monte de Oro and continued to work in rawhide saddlery there. Known are the bows, saddles, shackles, straps, reins, stirrups and bridges, which were made for sale with great quality.
Quevedo was one of the initiators of the Provincial Artisan Festival and has participated in several exhibitions, including the most important exhibition in Palermo, province of Buenos Aires, where he sent some of his works.
His greatest wish is that someone wants to follow in his footsteps, and tomorrow have a successor in a profession that has become art and tradition.
