Brandon Carlo was released from hospital on Saturday, a day after the Boston Bruins defenseman injured his upper body in a 5-1 win over the Washington Capitals.
“So he’s back home,” said Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy. “I haven’t been to the rink, obviously. That’s all I got from the coaches this morning. ”
Carlo was injured at 6:27 p.m. of the first period after a hit Tom Wilson and was taken to hospital in an ambulance.
There was no penalty, but Wilson will have a hearing with the NHL Player Safety Department for boarding at a time to be determined.
“Feel right for Brando,” the Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk mentionned. “Obviously, I don’t want to see anyone in this position. Scary for anyone to have to be there. “
Carlo has three points (two goals, one assist) in 21 games this season. He ranks second on the shorthanded Bruins per game (3:06) behind the defenseman Jeremy Lauzon (3:08).
“As a team we played the right way after that”, Brad Marchand said after the victory. “We didn’t let him distract us or get us down. Obviously we were thinking of [Carlo] the whole game, but we got the job done, we took care of the business on the ice. “
The Bruins host the New Jersey Devils on Sunday (5 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN1, SNW, NESN, NHL.TV).
