In a touching Instagram video, 55-year-old Carla Bruni reveals her harsh past to her followers – she was just diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019!
It was a time when she was under considerable stress as her husband, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, 68, was battling corruption charges that also saw him twice convicted in a criminal court.
“I was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago,” Bruni says in an Instagram video.
“Surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, I took the usual route to cure this type of cancer. I was lucky – the cancer was not yet aggressive! Why was this cancer not aggressive? That’s because it hasn’t had time to become one yet. I have a mammogram every year on the same date. If I hadn’t done it every year, I wouldn’t have my left breast today!”
Ms. Bruni concludes the video message by saying, “Get a mammogram. Your life depends on it!”
