Cádiz, September 14, 2023.- In its continuous effort to improve the quality of its social action, Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz, through its Training school and in collaboration with STAFF Formación, has taught a Food Handler course. The training action was carried out in the Father Cruceyra Social Center of Algeciras, in the recently renovated Aula Cafarnaúm and in which 9 volunteers have participated, 5 in person and 4 in the online modality. This course is part of the ongoing training of Cáritas volunteers in technical subjects required by different social projects, including the Algeciras Soup Kitchen.
This initiative is directly related to the mission of Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz to provide the best help and support to people in vulnerable situations who go daily to the Algeciras Soup Kitchen. Specifically, this course in Food Handling seeks to guarantee that the project volunteers are properly trained to handle and prepare food safely, complying with legally established health standards.
The volunteers actively participated in the course, which addressed essential topics such as personal hygiene, proper handling of perishable and non-perishable foods, temperature control and current health regulations. The training was delivered by highly qualified instructors and took place in a collaborative environment that encouraged learning and interaction between participants.
Vicente Pablo Ortells Polo, director of Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz, expressed his satisfaction with the commitment of the volunteers and their dedication to improving their technical skills. «We are very proud of our volunteerism. Every day, you demonstrate your continued commitment to our work of helping those who need it most.«. Likewise, the diocesan director of Cáritas has thanked all the volunteers who participated in this training and hopes that more people will be encouraged to be part of the life of Cáritas.
The Cáritas Soup Kitchen in Algeciras covers the basic needs of those who come to it by providing correct nutrition, also providing elements for healthy nutritional habits and promoting a warm environment where people at risk of social exclusion feel welcomed. Every day, more than 90 people receive food. Currently, the facilities are being renovated and improved to provide better service to the users of this project.
