Cáritas asks for help to maintain activity in its Soup Kitchen in Algeciras | Radio Algeciras | Present

Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz has alerted about the urgent need to increase the resources economic that would allow to continue maintaining the activity of the Social lunchroom that the entity manages in the city of Algeciras, in Campo de Gibraltar.

They recalled that last month of February it was reported that users, who go daily to the dining room in search of food aid, had increased by 60%, with around 200 servings being distributed daily, seven days a week.

From Cáritas the contributions that are received by individuals and private and public entities to support this work, such as the one recently carried out by CaixaBank, through a financial contribution from the La Caixa Foundation.

It is not enough to guarantee the operation of the dining room in this year 2021 due to the significant increase in costs that must be borne to attend to more than 200 people a day.

The soup kitchen helps, through its volunteering and technical staff, to people in a situation of serious exclusion and, since the Covid-19 pandemic began, to people who are affected by ERTE or who have lost their daily livelihood as a result of perimeter closures and the closure of nonessential activity and, therefore, they have been forced to need support from social entities in order to survive.

Finally, Cáritas Diocesana de Cádiz has indicated that it is open to the collaboration of all those who want to participate in this project so necessary in these moments of serious difficulty for many people and families in the Campo de Gibraltar region.
