Carinthian Marco Haller won the Wels inner city criterion of the bike aces on Wednesday. The Bora professional prevailed after 60 laps or 48 km at an average speed of 44.1 km/h in front of the German Simon Geschke (Cofidis) and Moran Vermeulen (Felbermayr). Haller’s Russian teammate Alexander Vlasow, fifth in the Tour de France and signed as a replacement for the ill Chris Froome and the injured Primoz Roglic and star of the event, finished fourth.
During the race, shooting star Rainer Kepplinger announced his move to the World Tour team Bahrain-Victorious. The ex-rower will thus become a teammate of his compatriot Hermann Pernsteiner. Just three years ago, Kepplinger took part in the World Rowing Championships in Ottensheim;
