Carinthia: mother and son as cannabis dealers on Snapchat

The Carinthian police have unearthed a cannabis ring organized by the family.

“Breaking Bad” in Carinthia: A 54-year-old from Klagenfurt, her 17-year-old son and his 18-year-old friend are said to have bought up to 4.5 kilograms of cannabis worth over 30,000 euros and partly sold them . In addition, 23 buyers are currently being sought. She and the drug dealers were reported on the loose, police said on Monday.

The trio began dealing in the summer of 2021 to finance their drug use. The woman acted as organizer and courier, and she also hid the drugs. The two young men sold them to end users. According to the police, from the beginning of 2022 to mid-September 2022, they allegedly bought up to 4.5 kilograms of herbal cannabis at a price of 35,000 euros. On the one hand, cannabis itself was consumed, on the other, it was sometimes sold for profit.

Offers brokered through Snapchat

The drugs were mainly sold in Klagenfurt to at least 23 known customers and five previously unknown customers. Most of them were young people from the districts of Klagenfurt, Klagenfurt-Land, Völkermarkt and Feldkirchen. Deliveries were arranged exclusively via Snapchat.

In this way, a total of 1.7 kilograms of herbal cannabis is said to have been sold for a street value of around 19,000 euros. When the car and apartment of the 54-year-old from Klagenfurt were searched, 105 grams of cannabis weed, 735 euros in cash, several mobile phones and narcotic paraphernalia were seized.
