Bridgetown, Mar 29 (Prensa Latina) The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) announced today the return after the Covid-19 pandemic of the Caribbean Week in New York, United States, from June 5 to 8, 2023 .
The event aims to showcase the region’s vibrant culture, encourage media engagement, promote thought leadership and networking within the smokestack-free industry, organizers said.
“We are delighted to be able to bring back this important initiative that highlights the dynamism of the Caribbean and our strong connection to the Northeast of the United States, which is one of our main source markets,” said CTO Acting Secretary General Neil Walters. .
The restrictions applied globally from 2020 raised not only resource problems, but also general uncertainty regarding the recovery of travel, he explained.
Consequently, the ability to resume activities in the market was affected, he added, and detailed that business meetings are being planned to date, including those of the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors and the Council of Ministers and Commissioners of the OTC.
The discussions will focus on the critical issues currently shaping the direction and growth of Caribbean tourism, while providing an opportunity for robust and strategic dialogue, Walters said.
The program combines a welcome cocktail hosted by CTO members, a Tourism Industry Marketing Conference aimed at exploring destination growth trends, and the popular Media Marketplace.
This last space will offer Caribbean countries a platform to interact with the commercial, consumer and diaspora media, described a released document.
Data from the CTO reflect an increase in international tourist arrivals to the region in the first two months of 2023, along with growth in the cruise industry.
