Caribbean Military Historical Memory Room established in Valledupar

In the ICT auditorium of the Rafael Carrillo Lúquez Regional Library, the National Army of Colombia, through the Operation and Development Support Battalion No. 1 and its Religion in Colombia program, held the opening of the Traveling Room of the Military History of the Caribbean. .

This place aims to make visible, dignified and enhance the memory of those who suffered in the armed war in the Colombian Caribbean.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Valledupar Veterans Association, relatives of the victims of the conflict and the emotional participation of a Korean War veteran, who highlighted the importance of preserving history​​​​​​​​​​ and remembering those who served the country in conflict situations.

The Travel Room, located on the first floor of the library, offers the public altar that tells the historical events related to the war in this region of Colombia, as well as a tribute to the soldiers who has fallen in the line of duty. This exhibition aims not only to pay tribute to the heroes of the country, but also to contribute to the process of building historical memory in the country.

This space will be open to the public until October 15, within the framework of Veterans Week commemoration, giving visitors a unique opportunity to learn up close the history and sacrifice of members of the Armed Forces in the area. .

With this campaign, the National Army reinforces its commitment to memory and reconciliation, bringing the community closer to the stories that are part of Colombia’s identity and history.
