Cargo vessels in distress on the North Sea – NRK Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

A Dutch cargo vessel with 12 people on board has sent out an emergency report. The main investigation center wrote on Twitter around 11.20.

The name of the vessel is Eemslift Hendrika. They send the emergency message around 10.20, Hovudredningssentralen Sør informs.

The ship had a load shift on board and had a 30 degree list. HRS sent out three helicopters and got hold of vessels that could be in the vicinity.

Eight people have been transported ashore

Oddgeir Andersen, rescue leader in HRS states that they have eight people to Vigra. The day takes care of there. None of them are injured.

– A rescue helicopter has landed and there is one more on the way, confirms Tor Hånde, airport manager at Ålesund Airport Vigra.

– Four people will be there to stabilize the situation on board according to the captain’s wishes on the vessel, says Oddgeir Andersen in HRS.

Andersen states that it is up to the captain on board whether they too will be evacuated.

The Coast Guard is on its way out to assist.

The ship was on its way to Kolvereid, which lies north of Trondheim.

Uroa for havari

The boat is located 60 nautical miles west of Ålesund, says Torgeir Espedal in the Main Rescue Center. It is located approximately where the North Sea meets the Norwegian Sea.

10 meter high waves have been reported. The wind is strong and the conditions are rough, Andersen says.

– The ship still runs on its own engine. It has not crashed, but we are worried that the ship will crash or capsize.

It is the displacement of cargo that is the reason why the boat has been tilted, according to HRS.
