As quoted by Associated press (AP), Leth Agencies said, the MV Glory ran aground in the town of El Qantara, Ismailia Province, Egypt.
The company confirmed that tugs in the Suez Canal were trying to refloat the MV Glory which had run aground.
Leth’s agencies are said to have no details as to why the cargo ship ran aground in the Suez Canal this time.
However, on Sunday (8/1/2023) some parts of Egypt, including the northern provinces, experienced a wave of bad weather.
Satellite tracking data analyzed by The Associated Press shows MV Glory in the single-lane Suez Canal just south of Port Said in the Mediterranean Sea.
A Canal Authority spokesman declined to comment, saying a statement would be released.

Ever Given events in 2021
For the record, the MV Glory is not the first ship to run aground in the Suez Canal, an important waterway for the transport of goods.
The Panama-flagged container ship Ever Given crashed into a bank in a single-lane stretch of canal in March 2021.
The vessel even blocked the waterway for six days.
Ever Gven is freed in a massive rescue operation by a fleet of tugboats.
The lockdowns have created massive traffic jams that have held back $9 billion a day in global trade and strained supply chains already burdened by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Joint Coordination Center recorded that MV Glory brought more than 65,000 tons of corn from Ukraine to China.
The Glory was inspected by the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul on 3 January. The center includes Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian and United Nations personnel.

Opened in 1869, the Suez Canal is an important route for oil, natural gas and cargo.
It also remains one of Egypt’s biggest foreign exchange earners.
In 2015, President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi’s government completed a major expansion of the canal, which will allow it to accommodate the world’s largest ships.
MV Glory itself is 225 meters (738 feet) long.
It was not immediately clear whether the vessel was stuck in the channel like the Ever Given, which made it difficult to free the vessel.
