On Thursday, a cargo plane from New York to Belgium had to turn around shortly after take-off.
The reason was that a horse ran wild in the plane, reports ABC News.

In an audio recording published by aviation enthusiasts in You Can See ATC on YouTubeyou can hear what is supposed to be the captain alerting the control tower of the incident, reports The Independent.
– We are a cargo plane with a live animal – a horse – on board. The horse managed to get out of its stall. We have no problem flying, but we have to get back to New York. We are unable to secure the horse, reads the message.

On the flight monitoring website FlightRadar24one can see how the Air Atlanta Icelandic plane makes a U-turn over Boston and returns to New York.

In the audio recording, what is supposed to be the captain asks the control tower to call a vet to help them when they land.
Furthermore, the control tower is heard asking if they need further help, and the captain replies that they need help getting off the plane.
– We have a horse that causes trouble here, replies the captain.

It is currently unknown how the horse got loose – but according to the audio recording, it was at large on the plane until it landed.
Shortly after landing, the plane was able to take off again, and on Friday morning it landed safely in Liège Airport in Belgium.
Air Atlanta Icelandic has not commented on the incident to either The Independent or ABC News.
