It concerns an aircraft of a Ukrainian airline that, according to the aviation authorities, was en route from Serbia to Jordan. Eyewitnesses told Greek media they heard explosions hours after the crash. – There were eight passengers on board, it is unclear whether there are any survivors. Greek media report that the plane was carrying “hazardous materials” and that it was mainly explosives. – The fire service immediately cordoned off the area around the crashed aircraft. Seven fire-fighting vehicles also turned out, but firefighters were unable to approach the wreckage due to the explosions. Corrosive fumes were also released. Two firefighters were taken to hospital with respiratory problems. – Authorities have ordered local residents not to go outside for the time being. They also have to keep the windows and doors closed at night. – According to the Greek aviation authorities, the pilot was able to warn in time that there was a problem with one of the engines. He then indicated that he would make an emergency landing in Kavala.
