Just elected, the president of the regional council of Normandy, reserved his first official outing to the rural world. In a GAEC in Carentan, he detailed his program for Normandy agriculture.
Concrete, innovative, efficient and modern solutions to develop Normandy agriculture and give the agricultural world the means to work in the best possible conditions.
Hervé Morin ended his inaugural speech Monday in Rouen by already talking about regional agriculture. The region does not have sricto sensu competence in the matter but it is responsible for managing the famous European aid funds for the sector, which continue to largely finance the livestock sector.
Hervé Morin also intends to resume discussions with the European Union to have the rural development program revised. As during the campaign for the regional elections, he repeated it in this first field trip with his brand new scarf – with “two leopards“- of president of a reunified Normandy.
Far from the golds of the regional council, Hervé Morin, a horse breeder’s jacket on his shoulders, presented his agricultural policy from a GAEC in Saint-Georges-de-Bohon in the Manche department. Manager of high schools and learning centers, the region wants to generalize short circuits in all the establishments it finances. The Norman president, without giving details, summarizes his action in the word “support”. Support for:
- guarantee the payment of rents
- organic and reasoned agriculture
- additional income such as anaerobic digestion
- finance research programs in bioenergy
- a “Norman meat” sector of excellence.
