A recent study, published in the journalAnnals of Allergy Asthma&Immunology”points out that mobile phones are veritable shelters for viral particles and bacteria, but also for allergens.
Previous studies have shown that bacteria that can threaten health have been detected on mobile phones: streptococcus, coli, coagulase-negative staphylococci, candida, etc.
The US Food and Drug Administration recommends following a simple rule to wash our hands “before and after” eating, using the toilet, changing diapers, caring for sick people, coughing, sneezing, etc. In this way we limit the transfer of dangerous germs from our hands to our phones.
Analyzing the substances present on 15 phones, the researchers discovered including cat and dog allergens in the case of families with pets, BDG (beta-D-glucans, fungi) and also endotoxins, a strong inflammatory agent.
In relation to the discovery of these allergens, the researchers point out: “If you suffer from allergies or asthma, it may be useful to clean the appliance more often to limit exposure to these allergens and asthma triggers”.
The researchers propose for this a mixture of chlorhexidine (broad-spectrum bactericidal antiseptic), cetylpyridinium chloride (cationic antiseptic), benzyl benzoate and tannic acid to neutralize these germs on phones.
