Career wins: Marc-André Fleury approaches Patrick Roy

Marc-André Fleury is dangerously close to the personal best for the number of career victories of Patrick Roy. He won his last four meetings with the Minnesota Wild to go up to 540 wins and close the gap between him and Roy to 11.

The Quebec goalkeeper will still be under contract next year. If he doesn’t retire this summer, he should beat Roy’s mark without any problems, even if he shares the net with Filip Gustavsson.

Patrick Roy ranks second in the history of NHL wins with a total of 551. Even if he manages to beat the mark of the former CH number 33, Fleury should not reach first place in the chapter of victories. The record is held by Martin Brodeur, with 691, 151 more than the current Wild goalkeeper.

Fleury has been brilliant in his last four starts with the Wild. He has a win each time, while maintaining a .958 save percentage and 1.22 goals-against-average. He also shut out the Columbus Blue Jackets during that streak.

Since arriving in Minnesota, Gustavsson has excelled in net for the Wild, but he still has some competition with recent performances from Marc-André Fleury. In fact, it becomes a good thing for Minnesota, which will be able to count on two good guards for its playoff race.

The Wild are currently in second place in the Central Division with 81 points.

The Minnesota team will need Marc-André Fleury at his best in the coming weeks because their star player, Kirill Kaprizov, will be out for 3 to 4 weeks.

Luckily for Minnesota, Fleury is on a hot streak and will face low-ranking teams in his next three games.
