Much career literature focuses strongly on mobility. You should never stay in the same position for too long. After a few years you learn little more and you are in danger of becoming rusty with all the negative consequences that entails. This is also true for many functions, but clearly not in the case of Martine Tanghe.
She has gradually become better as an anchor woman. You can therefore continue to grow for a long time within one position. In this case even an entire career (42 years) long. In recent years she has been more popular than ever. Aging, usually a disadvantage, even became an advantage here.
This is partly because confidence building is an essential competence of a news anchor. And as you get older you will do better and better, provided of course that you continue to practice your profession well. It is therefore not true that the end of a career is by definition accompanied by a withdrawal (disengagement) or, even worse, a collapse. Martine Tanghe’s commitment was unaffected to the last day.
