Occitania has, on Tuesday, March 31, 2,374 people tested positive for coronavirus. The Covid-19 epidemic is accelerating in the region. Even if the figures from the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Occitanie no longer correspond to reality because the screening tests are no longer systematic, they allow to note the evolution of the epidemic over the last weeks as shown in this graphic:
Hospitalizations and deaths
Among these people tested positive for Covid-19, 887 people are hospitalized on Tuesday, March 31, of which 278 are in an intensive care unit.
Since the disappearance in Carcassone of a first patient aged 76, on March 15, Occitania has had a total of 88 people carried away by the coronavirus, as of March 31, 2020.
The departments
The situations are different in each department. Due to the size of their population, Haute-Garonne and, above all, Hérault present the most important figures. But the ratio of serious cases, or deaths, to hospitalizations appears particularly high in Aude or in a city like Perpignan (Hautes-Pyrénées). To date, in Occitania, 450 patients affected by the coronavirus have been able to return to their homes after their passage in hospital.
The region is preparing for the arrival of the wave. The Occitanie Regional Health Agency also calls on all health professionals to mobilize them whether they are students, professionals, active or retired. 5,760 volunteer professionals have registered to support the teams of 415 health and medico-social establishments which have already activated their profile in Occitania.
