Cardiovascular diseases, increasing in Hunedoara county

The Directorate of Public Health of Hunedoara (DSP) has published a set of statistics that shows the evolution of preventable diseases in the county, over a period of five years, between 2019 and 2023. Other diseases suffered fluctuations or even a slight decrease.

Cardiovascular diseases

Cardiovascular disease remains a major public health problem in the county. The number of cases has increased steadily in recent years, from 31,807 in 2019 to 32,976 in 2023. Although the evolution is slow, it underlines the need for additional prevention and monitoring measures to reduce the frequency of these situations.

High blood pressure (HT)

High blood pressure still affects a large number of residents of Hunedoara county. Despite a decrease in 2020, when the number of cases was 60,410, the overall trend is increasing. In 2023, 64,537 cases were reported, showing how this condition has grown among the population.

obesity

Unlike cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure, obesity has seen a slight decline. From 4,865 cases in 2019, their number decreased to 4,388 in 2023. This positive development can be attributed to more efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle, but there is still much to be done to combat this problem completely.

Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes is another condition that has seen a significant increase in the county. In the period 2019-2023, the number of diabetes cases increased from 31,684 to 36,976. In particular, type II diabetes (non-insulin dependent) has had the same change, with the number of patients increasing from 28,217 in 2019 to 32,663 in 2023. This underlines the need for more intensive preventive measures and health education, especially regarding eating habits and physical activity.

COMPOSITIONS

The general increase in cases of cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and diabetes in Hunedoara County between 2019 and 2023 indicates an urgent need to strengthen prevention and health education programs. On the other hand, the reduction in the number of obesity cases is a positive sign, showing the effectiveness of some measures that have already been implemented.
