On May 11, a cardiologist from Dijon Bourgogne University Hospital (Côte-d’Or) was banned from practicing by the Order of Physicians. A sentence handed down for acts of harassment and verbal violence, including homophobic insults. Our sources speak of a difficult and angry man. He would also be involved in a medical error.
His name is still displayed on the list of cardiologists at the Dijon Bourgogne University Hospital (Côte-d’Or). But he no longer practices. Impossible to make an appointment with him at the hospital. “The professor no longer intervenes here and won’t for a while,” the secretariat answers us. “The doctor is no longer taking new patients”justifies, for his part, his cabinet.
A ghost cardiologist, banned from practicing medicine since last May for ethical breaches and sentenced to a one-year sentence, including six months suspended. In question: acts of moral harassment and homophobic insults according to our information.
In an email signed by his lawyer, Maître François-Xavier Bernard, the Council of the Order of Physicians of Côte-d’Or tells us that the “penalty sanctions breaches linked to the rules drawn from articles R4127-31, R4127-56, R4127-68 and R4127-68-1 of the Public Health Code”. All of these articles codifient general duties of doctors and determine in particular their relationships with each other and with other health professionals.
We consulted themthey specify for example: “all doctors must refrain from any act likely to bring their profession into disrepute”, “doctors must maintain relations of good brotherhood among themselves. A doctor who has a disagreement with a colleague must seek conciliation”or “the doctor shares his knowledge with students and interns in a spirit of companionship, consideration and mutual respect”.
At Dijon Bourgogne University Hospital, many preferred to remain silent when discussing the professor’s suspension. But the sources who agreed to speak to us mention “regular verbal violence”. “He got a big head because he had power”a person tells us on condition of anonymity. “He was angry all the time. No one could see him”says another health professional. “It’s a matter that we talk about quite a bit among doctors. It’s getting people talking…”, whispers a practitioner.

According to our information, a complaint had already been filed with the Dijon public prosecutor’s office in 2021 against the professor for acts of harassment. But the case was dismissed due to lack of a serious offense.
For its part, the CHU did not wish to respond to our requests, taking “account of the measures taken concerning this practitioner” and referring to the fact that “procedures are still in progress”. The cardiologist has in fact filed an appeal in cassation against the ban on practicing medicine. It is the Council of State which is investigating the matter. The procedure does not suspend the sentence. The professor must therefore always respect the sanction pronounced by the Order of Physicians.
Beyond the suspension for moral harassment and verbal violence, certain sources also told us of a medical error in which the cardiologist would be involved.
The professor would have entrusted an intervention to one of his interns, but would have quickly left the operating room, leaving the intern in charge. The latter then had to carry out manipulations that he had not studied and would have made a mistake. With serious consequences for the patient, who is now in a state of severe disability.
The penalty does not sanction medical errors but ethical breaches
National Chamber of the Order of Physicians
This person, accompanied since the events by several lawyers, has, for the moment, not wished to testify. The Council of the Order of Physicians of Côte-d’Or also informs us that the suspension pronounced against the cardiologist “does not sanction medical errors”.
As a reminder, every internal has the public official status. In the event of fault, the administrative responsibility of the hospital is engaged and it will have to repair the damage caused by the intern to the patient. In certain cases, practitioners who participated in the care and accompanied the intern may be involved in the procedure, in which case they must answer for their own faults.
Contacted, the cardiologist did not respond to our requests.
