Cardinal Pizzaballa in Turin for the feast of the Shroud

(ANSA) – TURIN, APRIL 26 – Turin celebrates the liturgical feast of the Shroud this year by welcoming the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem. An invitation from the archbishop of Turin, mons. Roberto Repole, also to celebrate the first 100 years of activity of the diocesan Pellegrinaggi Opera, also created to encourage travel to the Holy Land and consolidate the bond of solidarity with the Christians of the region. “The invitation to Cardinal Pizzaballa – underlines Repole – speaks of the contact that our Church and the reality of Turin have with this unique place, today ravaged by war, a bond strengthened by the fact that we keep the Shroud here”. “His visit – adds the president of the Opera Pellegrinaggi, Don Massimiliano Arzaroli – will be an important opportunity for knowledge and brotherhood, in a time like this in which, once again, the Holy Land is devastated by war, and all its peoples suffer serious suffering, in a situation that increasingly puts coexistence at risk not only in the Middle East but throughout the world”. The program includes, on 4 May, a meeting with journalists and operators from the world of tourism, followed, at 6pm, by the Eucharistic concelebration in the Cathedral and, at 9pm, by a meeting with citizens at the Consolata sanctuary, as part of the initiatives cultural events promoted by the weekly La Voce e il Tempo. A meeting with young people from the Salesian world at Mary Help of Christians and visits to the Little House of Divine Providence and to Sermig (Youth Missionary Service) are scheduled for Sunday 5 May.
