Cardinal Krzyzewski offers aid and compassion to Ukraine’s dam collapse victims on behalf of Pope Francis

Cardinal Krzyzewski arrived in Ukraine to visit the people of Ukraine suffering from the collapse of the dam and to deliver the Pope’s loving help.

Cardinal Krajewski, who is in charge of the Pope’s charities, arrived in Ukraine with goods, food and medicine sent by the Pope to those suffering from the damaged dam as a result of the Ukraine-Russia war. The cardinal will visit Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson, and convey to the people the loving embrace of Pope Francis.

Cardinal Krajewski shared that ‘there is not a single day that the Holy Father does not pray for Ukraine’. This is the sixth time that Pope Cardinal Konrad Krajewski has sent his help to Ukraine. The cardinal described his travels as ‘evangelistic expeditions’.

The Kakhovka hydroelectric dam in the southern Ukrainian city was destroyed in the war. As a result, more than eighty villages and towns were submerged. In addition, 20,000 hectares of agricultural land were destroyed and more than 150 tonnes of petrol was spilled. It is in this dire situation that the cardinal sets out with medicines and other food items. The Cardinal left Rome on June 22 and reached Ukraine after traveling 3125 kilometers.

The Cardinal also visited the Mykolive Parish, a symbol of resistance. The cardinal also spent a few hours with the vicar of the parish, which is open and active despite the Russian bombings. The vicar shared that the secret behind these resistances is the prayers of the faithful who carried the rosaries given to them by the Pope.

The Cardinal recalled that the opportunity to be with these people in the name of the Holy Father is precious and that everyone’s prayers and help will continue.
