NEW YORK — Authorities arrested the suspect of setting fire to the nail salon of his wife, who is Cardi B’s stylist, the Fire Department announced Thursday on its social media.
Nguyen Bui was charged with arson, reckless endangerment, among others.
According to fire chiefs, Bui set fire to the hall on September 28 when it was being renovated. Firefighters arrived at the scene and found that the fire originated in the center of the business, on a pile of boxes and other items.
A video shared by the FDNY shows the moment the suspect enters the place filled with things and uses two napkins, throws them into the boxes, and everything catches fire.
“Arson is incredibly reckless and shows disregard for the lives and safety of others,” said Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh. “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our fire chiefs, the suspect was quickly apprehended and will face serious consequences for his careless act.”
Authorities are still investigating what led the suspect to set fire to his wife’s place, but Bui is said to have explained that he was drunk and that his wife was upset about missing the deadline to open the salon in the Throgs Neck area. .
