Carabinieri find Vespa in the barn: it was stolen 41 years ago!

In the province of Arezzo, the Carabinieri were looking for a missing tractor and in a barn they accidentally come across the Piaggio scooter, stolen long before and then returned to the owner’s son.

An incredible story for many reasons, also because the one that took place in Castelfranco Pian di Scò, in the province of Arezzo, is an uncommon “barn find” (ie the discovery of a historic vehicle in a barn).

In search of the tractor

In fact, the Carabinieri had been alerted by an elderly man who had been stolen from an old tractor worth a few thousand euros but in perfect working order. After collecting valid elements, they obtained a search order against a 50-year-old. And in his barn, in addition to the agricultural vehicle, they also found a Vespa 50 Special in a corner.

FINDING surprise

The vehicle, however, did not belong to the owner of the barn (who was later reported for theft and receiving stolen goods). The Vespino was found stolen in 1980 in Pisa. The then owner has since disappeared. The son, incredulous at the discovery and the leap in time, said he was “moved” by the discovery of the moped that belonged to his father.
