Emanuele Calligaris, a 46-year-old carabiniere, passed away after hours of agony in service at the Legion Command of Udine. The Marshal began feeling ill a few days ago. He was admitted to the hospital last night for impaired neurological status.
A cerebral CT scan was found to have a very extensive cerebral hemorrhage.
He was hospitalized in intensive care, intubated and underwent intensive treatment. Nonetheless, signs of brain death quickly appeared, so the commission for the assessment was launched which ended today at h. 18.45.
Cerebral haemorrhage is unfortunately a fairly frequent occurrence in patients who are hospitalized in intensive care. Also in recent days there have been other deaths of patients suffering from the same pathology. The patient was vaccinated on 03/04 with the AstraZeneca vaccine. On the basis of the information available to clinicians, at present nothing can be said about a possible causal link between the two events.
