As indicated by resolution No. 625 of the Regional Government of Ñuble, Carabineros begins this Thursday, June 1, the control of vehicular access to the high mountain range area in the municipality of Pinto, in the context of the beginning of the winter season.
As every year, the police personnel of Tenencia (F) Las Trancas, will have the mission of executing the access control to the Andean sector, which is affected by the conditions of snow, wind and rain that mark the weather.
“According to what has been coordinated with the competent authorities on the subject, such as the Regional Government, the Municipality of Pinto, the MOP Seremía, and other organizations, we have established the beginning of this limitation on access from this Thursday, and until August 31, depending on the conditions remain as projected”, explained the Prefect of Ñuble, Colonel Fredy Vergara Ubilla.
Thus, then, it was established that the time of ascent to Nevados de Chillán will be between 08:00 and 14:00, and the time of descent will be between 14:30 and 19:00.
“Emergency vehicles and residents are excluded from this measure, who must prove their residence, either by showing their certificate of residence, or some other document that records their address, such as their Driver’s License or vehicle documents, at the checkpoints that will be arranged according to the conditions of the area,” added the Prefect.
Specifically, vehicle access controls may be carried out at km 51 in Plaza de Los Lleuques, at km 64 at Puente Marchant and at km 69 at Tenencia (F) Las Trancas, in accordance with the conditions of the route. , due to the presence of ice and snow, which will be informed by the Carabineros in a timely manner.
“We call on visitors to the area and tourists from outside the region, to take these measures into consideration to organize their trip and make their reservations at the recreational centers of the hot springs; Also, we want to remember that the carrying of chains is mandatory, to be used if necessary due to increased snow on the route”, Colonel Vergara pointed out.
In the same way, Carabineros reiterates to families and drivers to move attentive to the instructions of the authority and prevent traffic accidents.
