In the night from Saturday to Sunday, a car with five occupants drove into the Hoofdvaart in Nieuw-Vennep in North Holland. The car got off the road on the Lisserweg and drove straight through a fence, after which the vehicle ended up in the water.
Three occupants were able to escape from the car themselves, two had to be helped out of the vehicle by the fire brigade. According to a police officer, the two occupants had to be resuscitated. All five people have been taken to hospital.
How the car got off the road and into the water is not yet clear. The police are investigating.
