Car stolen 28 years ago returned to owner

Carol Richards from Australia bought a new hot pink Holden Torana GTR XU-1 in 1973, used it as an everyday car and drove it in rally races.

According to Autoevolution, Richards nicknamed the car Sexy Lexy and drove it until 1992, when Holden was stolen. It was only possible to get on the trail of the car in 2016.

Police found a network of stolen car resale. It turned out that the criminals had modified the cars and sold them with broken license plates and fake documents to unsuspecting customers.

Sexy Lexy suffered the same fate. The car ended up in the possession of a Holden collector, who purchased several cars from scammers between 2008 and 2011.

The police arrested the criminals, and more recently the gang leader (a 50-year-old man who was sentenced to two years in prison) had to pay 560 thousand local dollars to the new owner of the car (about 31 million rubles).

The pink “Holden” returned to 74-year-old Richards 28 years after the hijacking, and the car was in excellent condition. She said that she once taught her son to drive while driving this car. Now her grandchildren will be learning to drive on Sexy Lexy.
