(CNN)– The Syrian Defense Ministry accused Israel of targeting a car in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Monday, killing “two civilians,” while the Israeli army announced that it had targeted a senior official responsible for money transfer operations in Hezbollah.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense said the strike targeted a “civilian car in the residential area of Mezzeh in Damascus, killing two civilians” and injuring three others.
The ministry said the strike caused extensive damage to “private property in the surrounding area”.
The Damascus-based Sham FM radio posted a video, which the network confirmed CNNdue to the effect of the air strike. The video shows several Syrian military officers near a burnt-out car. It also shows some damage to the Golden Mazzeh Hotel building near the car.
Later, the Israeli military announced that it had targeted a senior Hezbollah member in Syria, who was responsible for the group’s money transfer operations.
“Hezbollah Unit 4400 runs this financial network. It was run by Jaafar Kassir, also known as Sheikh Salah, until he was eliminated in a detailed strike in Beirut at the beginning of October,” said a person -speaker of the Israeli army Daniel Hagari in a press conference on Monday.
Hagari said on Monday, “In another precision strike in Syria, we killed his successor,” without mentioning the name of the person killed.
