In May 2024, significant changes occurred in car prices in Russia. This affected both domestic manufacturers, such as UAZ and Moskvich, and models imported under the parallel import scheme. URA.RU tells which car models have become more expensive in the Russian Federation in May and announces their prices.
UAZ
In May of this year, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) increased the price of its entire model line without prior warning about it. The most significant increase affected the popular Patriot SUV, the price of which rose by 50 thousand rubles. Now the minimum cost of this model is 1,680,000 rubles, including a delivery charge of 50 thousand rubles, which has become mandatory since last fall. The Patriot is only available with a manual transmission and is equipped with a 2.7-liter gasoline engine. The “Pickup” model also increased the same level in price, and the price of the “Pro” line increased by 60 thousand rubles, reports Autonews.ru.
Solaris
Solaris HS
Despite the fact that the official prices for the Solaris range have remained unchanged, dealers are seeing an increase in the cost of these cars. For example, the price for a Solaris HS sedan in the basic configuration Active Plus with a 1.4-liter engine and a six-speed automatic transmission at the dealer is 2,100,000 rubles, which is 90 thousand rubles higher than the official starting price.
Solaris HC
The Solaris HC transmission is in great demand among customers. At the car dealer, its basic Classic package is offered for three million rubles, which is 500 thousand rubles more expensive than on the official website.
Haval Jolion
The Chinese company Haval has announced that there is a slight reduction in the cost of its popular model, the Jolion crossover. On the official website, the first Comfort package now costs 1,999,000 rubles. At the same time, it may be difficult to find a Jolion crossover at dealers at the starting price. The most affordable option with a robotic gearbox and the middle package Elite will cost 2,350,000 rubles, which is 51 thousand rubles more expensive than the offer on the website.
“Moskvich”
The situation with Moskvich cars has also changed. Dealerships have run out of Moskvich 3 crossovers since last year at old prices, and now 2024 models are on display. The new price starts from 1,655,000 rubles, which is 65 thousand rubles more expensive than the previous version. The car is equipped with a manual transmission and a 1.5-liter gasoline engine.
The restoration of Moskvich 6 of the new model year increased in price by 64 thousand rubles and now costs at least 2,200,000 rubles. Despite this, in the dealers of the capital you can still find 2023 models at the old price of 2,136,000 rubles. The basic version of the Moskvich 6 is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with a power of 136 horsepower and a torque of 200 Newton meters, along with a continuously variable transmission CVT.
Mitsubishi Outlander
The fourth generation Mitsubishi Outlander crossover, presented at metropolitan dealers, has increased significantly in price. The reason was the parallel import scheme, with which the car entered the Russian market. In one of the showrooms in Moscow, the price for a front wheel drive model reached 4,500,000 rubles, which is 500 thousand rubles higher than at the end of the previous year.
Car dealership managers explain the price increase with the lack of basic versions of the crossover and advise to buy the highest available modifications, since the prospects for the appearance of initial trim levels are uncertain and may not return their prices to previous levels.
Toyota Highlander
The situation with the Toyota Highlander is similar. This crossover, imported from China, has also seen a significant increase in prices. At the end of 2023, for the Toyota Highlander model, when they were buying for money, they asked for 6,690,000 rubles. By April, the price had increased to 7.3 million rubles, and by May the price had increased by another 200 thousand rubles, reaching 7,550,000 rubles. At the moment, only major modifications of the Toyota Highlander are still on sale.
Volkswagen Terramont
While most imported models are seeing price increases, the Volkswagen Teramont is an exception to the rule. In April 2024, dealers decided to reduce the price of this large crossover to 7.8 million rubles, which is 200 thousand rubles cheaper compared to the beginning of April. Volkswagen Teramont, which is offered on the Russian market with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 220 horsepower, with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Hyundai Custo
The Hyundai Custo minivan, which ended on the Russian market in February 2024, continues to show a constant increase in prices. The original cost of the model in February was 5.5 million rubles, and by May the price reached 5,890 million rubles. The Hyundai Custo, produced at the Beijing Hyundai plant in China, is a seven-seat minivan that can be considered a replacement for the Kia Carnival. The Hyundai Custo minivan is equipped with a two-liter engine producing 236 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
FangChengBao Leopard 5
FangChengBao Leopard 5, the new Chinese SUV from BYD, also shows an increasing price trend. Since February 2024, when the car was first introduced on the Russian market, its cost has increased from 6.050 million rubles to 6.750 million rubles by April. This car with all-wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain with a capacity of 680 horsepower is a direct competitor to the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and has a body-on-frame platform with full spring suspension independent.
Earlier, Autostat reported that in April 2024, the import of passenger cars fell by 34% compared to March and came to 57.8 thousand units.
