An accident occurred on the A3 motorway near Eiken on Sunday morning. The reason for this was that the 20-year-old driver briefly fell asleep. It was found that he had a high alcohol level. He had to give up his driving licence.
The 20-year-old driver and his two passengers were driving on the A3 motorway shortly before 6.30am on Sunday when the accident occurred. As reported by the Aargau cantonal police, the driver said he dozed off briefly in the municipality of Eiken.
He lost control of his car and crashed into a sloping concrete section of a construction site. The car overturned and hit the roof. The driver and his two passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital. There was also heavy damage to the vehicle.
When the accident was registered, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs, the carabinieri continue. The competent Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened a criminal investigation and ordered a blood and urine sample. The 20-year-old had to give up his driving licence.
