The storms of 2021 left noticeable damage in Germany. Compared to the previous year, the claims burden for motor vehicle insurers has almost doubled to around EUR 1.7 billion. Of this, EUR 1.3 billion was attributable to motor vehicle damage caused by storms, hail and lightning. The remaining EUR 400 million was caused by flooding.
