Those who want to cancel their car insurance must do so by November 30th. If you are looking for cheap insurance, you should pay attention to a few things.
When changing car insurance, customers should not only pay attention to the provider, but also to the corresponding tariff components. Individual offers can be compared on comparison portals such as Check 24 or Verivox. However, since not all insurance companies are represented there, comparisons should also be made with online insurers such as HUK24.
Auto insurance company ADAC has put together seven tips that can help you find the cheapest insurance company possible and possibly save you a few hundred dollars.
Paying annually saves money
Insurance companies often offer different payment methods. They range from annual, half-yearly, quarterly to monthly. But if you can afford it, you should opt for the annual payment method. Because the more money is transferred to the insurance company, the more expensive it becomes. Consequently, the annual payment is the cheapest.
agree on a deductible
When it comes to comprehensive and partial accidental damage insurance, drivers can choose to take it out with or without a deductible. Motorists who bear part of the costs in the event of an accident benefit from reduced premiums. The higher the deductible, the lower the premium. A deductible of 150 euros for partial accidental damage insurance and 300 euros for full accidental damage insurance is generally recommended, according to the ADAC.
Select Workshop Binding
Instead of the free choice of garage, policyholders should decide to be tied to a garage. If you select this option, your car will be repaired in a partner garage of the insurer. In the case of contracts with a workshop commitment, also known as a workshop rate or workshop bonus, the premium for full accidental damage insurance with some suppliers is reduced by 20 percent. However, the automobile club points out that the garages are not always in the immediate vicinity. “Drivers should therefore ensure that the insurance company offers a free collection and delivery service and a replacement vehicle,” says the ADAC.
Low mileage
If you drive less, you have to pay less. The number of kilometers traveled each year affects the price of car insurance. Policyholders should therefore check the annual kilometers regularly in order to be able to report them realistically. To reduce your mileage, you should use buses or trains occasionally, or work from your home office if you can.
Limit the group of drivers
If the car is used by only one or two people, the contribution usually decreases. It is also usually more expensive for the insured if inexperienced drivers use the vehicle. It is therefore worthwhile to restrict the circle of drivers to actual users.
Discounts for professional groups
Insurance companies give discounts for certain professional groups, such as civil servants or civil servants. It may also be worth completing driver safety training or joining an automobile club.
telematic tariff
With a telematics tariff, policyholders can be rewarded for safe driving. For example, braking, acceleration, cornering behavior and speed are measured and evaluated with an app. If you take out a telematics tariff, you can save up to 30 percent on the insurance premium. However, maximum savings are not easy to achieve.
According to ADAC auto insurance calculations, if you follow these tips, you can save 61 percent. The basis for this is a 34-year-old driver from Munich with a VW Golf VII, for whom the premium for liability and partial accidental damage insurance is 330 euros instead of 852 euros.
